Things To Keep In Mind When Shopping For Striped Thigh Highs

However big or small you are, there's probably a striped thigh high out there that will fit you. However, you need to be wary of one size fits all/most. If you have larger thighs or are taller, some of these socks may not fit you the way you hope. They won't go up as high as you want when they stretch out. The colors in the stripes may be dimmer, and so on. If you're on the small side, they may go up much further than you wanted, and you may have more trouble keeping them on your legs than anybody else would. Many manufacturers will tell you about how far the socks will stretch up and how wide they will stretch at the top, but if they don't you can check the reviews for the product. Almost certainly someone has chimed in.
Color Variation
If you're putting together a cosplay, a Halloween outfit, or are otherwise designing an outfit around your striped thigh highs, you'll want to start with getting the thigh highs. Because of the way color works on monitors and the variations between them, the thigh highs may not be the exact color you're expecting. They'll likely be close. In order to prevent using the wrong shade of black, or pink, or whatever, you'll want to make sure you get your socks first and match everything to them, rather than the other way around.
Staying Up
You may or may not have considered this, but sometimes thigh highs... don't stay up the way you hope. There are a few ways to prevent this. In the first place, you can look for striped thigh highs that have a bead of silicone around the inside of the leg opening, which helps them grip your leg and stay up better. But there are also lots of other solutions. There's body adhesive, which you cosplayers probably have encountered before. Or the cousin of body adhesive, double-sided tape.
But if you don't want to apply something you have to wash off, there are all kinds of other solutions. There are clips, there are garters from simple to ornate, garter belts. If you're wanting to expose the top of your socks, a garter that matches your sock colors (or a small one, that can be cuffed under the top of the sock) may be your best option. Definitely at least keep this in mind while you're shopping for your striped thigh high socks, though.
